Rozerem is prescribed as a prescription sleep aid for the treatment of insomnia or chronic insomnia. It is not only the first, but the only prescription sleep aid in its class of medication that has been proven not to cause dependence or addiction. Rozerem also is a medication that can't be abused. As a result of these findings and the safety of its use, the DEA decided that Rozerem should not be a medication that is considered to be a controlled substance, like all other medications used for the treatment of insomnia are. Rozerem is the first breakthrough sleep aid medication in over 35 years.
Uses of Rozerem
Rozerem is prescribed as a safe way to treat problems with sleeping and insomnia. It doesn't create dependence and has minimal side effects, making it an ideal choice for patients and doctors.
Rozerem Directions
It's recommended that a patient taking Rozerem take the medication around 30 minutes before going to bed. Anything that you do after taking your Rozerem should be limited to routine bedtime preparation. Do not perform any activities that require alertness or concentration after taking Rozerem. Do not take this medication with a meal that is high in fat, or closely after, as it may affect the medication's effectiveness.
Rozerem Side Effects
One of the best qualities of prescription Rozerem is the lack of side effects. In a double blind study, one group taking Rozerem and another taking a placebo, the only side effects that were noted were dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and somnolence. There was only a 2% increase in these side effects from the patients taking the placebo and those taking Rozerem.
Rozerem Precautions
Rozerem hasn't been sufficiently studied for use in children or adolescents; they should not take this medication. Patients who have sleep apnea or sever COPD should not take Rozerem as its effects are not well documented. If you consume alcohol, use caution when taking in combination with Rozerem. Certain changes in reproductive hormone levels in adults have been linked to Rozerem. If you notice any change in libido, changes in menstrual cycles in women, problems with fertility, or any other sudden unusual changes, you should tell your doctor immediately. Your doctor should do a test to check on your prolactin and testosterone levels as these hormone level changes can be associated with the use of Rozerem.
Drug Interactions with Rozerem
If you are currently taking fluvoxamine, you should not take prescription Rozerem.
